Desk booking
From Quiet Zones to Familiar Desks: How Workspace Booking Supports Neurodiverse Needs at RICS
The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) has been using Spaces – a SharePoint intranet–based desk and room booking system built on ResourceXpress – for over 8 years to support flexible working across its offices.
They recognised early on that the workplace isn’t one-size-fits-all. In particular they wanted to acknowledge their neurodivergent colleagues and ensure their needs were met with suitable workspaces. This included providing desks in a quiet zone away from busy footfall, strong lighting, food smells and other sensory distractions.
With the Spaces desk booking system, employees can reserve these designated workspaces in advance, giving them reassurance and control over their environment.
