Delivering a branded LMS portal in SharePoint
Keeping learning fresh and user engagement high at Historic England
In 2021, Learn365 was selected by Historic England. Historic England is the government’s statutory adviser on the historic environment, championing historic places and helping people to understand, value and care for them.
Built on Microsoft 365 platforms, services, and generative AI technologies, Learn365 (previously LMS365) enables organisations to weave learning experiences into people’s everyday work.
By surfacing and tracking learning in Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Viva and on mobile devices, Learn365 enables organisations to increase workforce engagement with the critical learning journeys that drive organisational and individual success.
Learn365 is also integrated with SharePoint, enabling organisations to create a rich, browser-based learning experience that’s accessible through their existing intranet pages or via a dedicated learning site.
It was the SharePoint-integrated aspect of Learn365 that appealed to the L&D team at Historic England, enabling them to create a learning experience for its workforce that is proving easy to keep vibrant and consistently aligned with the company’s brand.
Harriet Smith (née Addy), Digital Learning Producer at Historic England, was closely involved in the learning portal and LMS rollout.
As a customer with Learn365 for the past three years, we’ve seen massive improvement on our user engagement metrics. Learners are coming back to the LMS because it’s easy to navigate, it’s branded to Historic England, and we can continually upload new courses to keep things fresh! As an Administrator, I can design the site to feel in line with our other systems such as the Intranet. As it’s based on SharePoint online it’s very easy to customise and update.

In relation to the support services received from Essential, Smith commented:
The service we’ve received from Essential has been nothing short of impeccable. The team are always on hand to answer our questions, response times are usually less than a day. They were supportive during the implementation phased and helped us with our design, integrations, and communications. I’ve been impressed with how seriously they take our comments and seen vast improvement to the system in the three years I’ve used it. They take continuous improvement seriously and are constantly working on making the experience even better.
Learn365 is available directly from Essential or via the G-Cloud marketplace.
