Aligning Learning With Harrow Council’s Microsoft 365 Strategy

Council Purchases LMS Though G-Cloud Supplier Essential

Harrow Council has made a significant improvement to its staff training facility by implementing LMS365 (aka Learn365) to replace its previous Learning Management System (LMS).

LMS365, which the Council discovered and shortlisted through the G-cloud digital marketplace, is developed specifically to work within a Microsoft Teams and SharePoint environment.

This aligned perfectly with the Council’s strategic technical direction of standardising on the Microsoft 365 platform.

Building on the Council’s Microsoft 365 Investment

This LMS365 integration enabled the staff to access self-service eLearning conveniently through familiar platforms like SharePoint and Teams.

LMS365 leverages Microsoft’s robust security ecosystem, including Azure for identity management and Intune for mobile device security.

Learners at the Council were already registered in Active Directory (EntraID) which simplified enrolment into role-based learning pathways.

Leveraging the full Microsoft 365 security stack, LMS365 also complies with government cloud security principles, annually verified by the Government Digital Service (GDS).

Migration from an Existing LMS

The implementation was supported by Essential, a trusted UK-based LMS365 partner, who played a crucial role in assisting Harrow Council’s L&D team.

Essential provided meticulous planning, assisted with importing its existing learning content into LMS365, as well as migrating learner records from its legacy LMS to ensure nothing was lost in the move.

Essential also offered training and onboarding services to ensure a smooth and successful project launch.

The Council is now looking to extend the eLearning capability securely to external organisations, and is working with Essential again to plan and review its requirements.

I’ve full of praise of Harrow team’s enthusiastic embrace of the new platform. Their leadership in adapting the solution to suit the organisation’s needs was exemplary.
