Many organisations have used Mimecast to provide email protection, but are finding that Microsoft 365 now offers what they need.

Moving on from Mimecast, however, can pose problems.

Although Mimecast provides tools to export all emails belonging to an individual user and the ability to export the results of an eDiscovery search, using these tools to extract your data is difficult:

• You’ll find limits to the amount of data you extract at a time
• There’s no tracking or ability to recover if an export fails or times out half way through

You can pay to have Mimecast extract your data, but even this approach is not guaranteed as the format you’ll receive your export in isn’t easily ingested into Microsoft 365.
